Many cities in Cuba now have an ETECSA with a computer connected to the internet (at least Havana, Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Baracoa and Santiago). You have to buy a card with a password. It costs $15 and theoretically it should work for 5 hours (but I still haven't met anyone whom did not encounter some problems with the time--and always in ETECSA's benefit, strange enough...) You also have to pay for the time using the machine, $3 and hour. So all in all, it cost $6 per hour. Any you pay the same whatever the speed. Or the lack of it rather.

Welcome to the Cuba Travel Info Site

When is the best time to trave to Cuba? There isn't a bad time to visit Cuba. The hot, rainy season runs from May to October but winter (December to April) is the island's peak tourist season, when planeloads of Canadians and Europeans arrive in pursuit of the southern sun. Cubans take their hols in July and August, so this is when the local beaches are most crowded. Christmas, Easter and the period around 26 July, when Cubans celebrate the anniversary of the revolution, are also very busy.

+ Special Night out
A night out we can wholeheartedly recommend is the Salsa lessons at the Casa Templo de Santeria Yamaya near to Plaza Mayor. I believe the Casa is a cultural centre and on alternative nights the locals just turn up and play music with people drinking mojitos and dancing the night away. This is raw culture as it's all done under a couple of flickering florescent lighting with tilby-wearing characters toking on their cigars while they strum away on their guitars and calvae sticks. Brilliant. Costs only a couple of dollars in the form of a contribution on the way out.
